Saint Augustine (354-430) is one of the most influential theologians of the Christian Church. Born in Hippo (now Annaba, Algeria), he was initially a man passionate about philosophy and worldly pleasures before converting to Christianity at the age of 31. His most famous work, The Confessions, recounts his spiritual journey, from his past errors to his encounter with God. Augustine was Bishop of Hippo and had a profound influence on Christian theology, particularly with his doctrine of original sin and divine grace. He also formulated ideas on the nature of the Church and the relationship between faith and reason. Saint Augustine is recognized as one of the Fathers of the Church and a Doctor of the Church, and his feast day is August 28.

Saint Jerome (347–420) was a Christian priest and monk, best known for his translation of the Bible into Latin, the Vulgate , which remained the official version of the Catholic Church for centuries. Born in Stridon (present-day Croatia), he led an ascetic and studious life, traveling throughout the Roman Empire to study and deepen his theological knowledge. Jerome was a prolific scholar, writing biblical commentaries, letters, and treatises on the Christian faith. His passion for the study of Scripture and his commitment to making the Bible accessible to the masses made him a Father of the Church and a Doctor of the Church. His feast day is September 30 and is often depicted translating or with a lioness, one of his legendary companions.

Saint Bernard of Clairvaux (1090–1153) was a French Cistercian monk, theologian, and mystic, famous for his reform of the Cistercian Order and his role in founding Clairvaux Abbey. Born into a noble family, he devoted himself fully to God at a young age, and his spiritual writings, particularly on the mystical love of God, were highly influential. Bernard also played an important role in spreading the cult of the Virgin Mary and supported the Crusades. He was known for his intense devotion, preaching, and ability to attract many disciples. Because of his theological knowledge and prayer life, he was proclaimed a Doctor of the Church. Saint Bernard's feast day is August 20.
