Saint Philomena is a saint venerated for her faith and her martyrdom. Its history remains shrouded in mystery and legends. It is said that she was a 13-year-old girl from Greece who was martyred in the 4th century. Despite the tortures, she refused to recant her Christian faith. She is often represented with a fleur-de-lis, a symbol of purity, and an anchor, a symbol of hope. She is considered the patroness of desperate causes and is invoked to obtain miracles. Her devotion has spread around the world and she is commemorated on August 11.
