Saint Germaine Cousin is a French Catholic saint born in 1579. She lived a difficult life due to her poverty and her congenital disease, which left her lame and malformed. Germaine found refuge and comfort in prayer and religious devotion, and was renowned for her kindness and compassion towards others. She died on June 15, 1601 at the age of 22, and was canonized by the Catholic Church in 1867. She is revered today as the patroness of shepherds, disabled people and victims of abuse.
