Rare silver reliquary with a glass facade, containing the relic of Saint Philomena
Saint Philomena is the patron saint of desperate cases, pregnant women, children, babies and young people. Her feast day is August 11.
The relic is set with gold leaf on a purple silk background and is decorated with gold and silver thread. The relic is identified in Latin on a handwritten label as: Ex Indusio S. Filomenae VM .
Good used condition with its original glass.

Saint Philomena is a Christian figure venerated as a martyr, although little precise historical information exists about her. Her name, meaning "daughter of light", is associated with stories of faith and miracles. She is often depicted with a sword and arrows, symbols of her martyrdom. Her relics were discovered in 1802 in Priscilla, Rome, and attracted great popular devotion. Her cult spread quickly, and she is considered a patron saint of the desperate, pregnant women, children, babies, and young people . Tradition attributes many miracles to her, including healings. Her feast day is celebrated on August 11.
