Saint Gertrude of Helfta, born in 1256 in Germany, was a mystic and Benedictine nun known for her intense prayer life and profound visions of Christ. She entered the monastery of Helfta at the age of five and received an exceptional spiritual and literary education there. Her ardent faith and love for humanity are reflected in her writings, particularly in The Revelations and The Spiritual Exercises , where she shares her mystical ecstasies and intimate dialogues with Christ. Considered a pioneer of the spirituality of the Sacred Heart, she inspired many believers to deepen their personal relationship with God. Feast day on November 16, she is the patron saint of travelers and souls in purgatory.
