This oval silver reliquary contains a relic of Saint Francis of Paola, mystic and founder of the Minims. The front, protected by a domed glass, features a red fabric background onto which the relic is fixed, mounted on a lozenge of light-colored silk. A printed Latin label clearly states the saint's name: “S. Francisci de Paula.” The inner frame is made of repoussé silver, adorned with rococo scrolls typical of the 18th century. The reverse side is decorated with a flaming heart pierced by two arrows, emblem of the Sacred Heart, symbolizing the burning love of Christ. The ensemble evokes the fervor, charity, and humility of Saint Francis of Paola.

Saint Francis of Paola (1416–1507) was a hermit and founder of the Order of Minims, born in Paola, Calabria. From a very young age, he led a life of penance, prayer, and solitude, quickly attracting disciples. He advocated for extreme humility, perpetual fasting, and complete abandonment to the will of God. Known for his miracles and wisdom, he was summoned by King Louis XI of France and accompanied him at his death. He was canonized in 1519 by Pope Leo X.
