RELIC OF SAINT AUGUSTINE

A rare silver-plated bronze reliquary with a glass front containing the relic of Saint Augustine . The relic is carefully fixed in the center of an exquisite decoration. It rests on a red cloth background, this color, omnipresent in the Christian liturgy, symbolizes the blood of Christ and his redemptive sacrifice. A finely crafted silver border frames the whole, adding a touch of elegance and devotion.

Two parchment labels bear the inscription "S. Augustini Let. Doc: Ecc" , confirming the identity of the saint whose relic is preserved.

Saint Augustine of Hippo (354-430) is one of the greatest theologians and philosophers of Christianity. Initially distant from the faith, he converted under the influence of his mother, Saint Monica, and Saint Ambrose. Having become Bishop of Hippo, he fought heresies and wrote major works such as "The Confessions" and "The City of God" . He developed the doctrine of grace and profoundly influenced Christian thought. Recognized as a Doctor of the Church , his feast day is August 28 .
