Saint Anthony of Padua, born Fernando Martins de Bulhões in 1195 in Lisbon, is one of the most venerated saints in the Catholic Church. A Franciscan monk, he joined the Franciscan order after initially being a member of the Augustinians, inspired by a desire to preach and convert. He is best known for his eloquent preaching and his miracles, particularly in finding lost objects, which earned him the nickname "Saint Anthony of Lost Objects". His dedication to poverty, his love for the poor and his great spiritual wisdom make him a model of Christian faith. He was canonized in 1232, only a year after his death, by Pope Gregory IX. His feast day is celebrated on June 13.
