Saints Zeno and Germanus are venerated as martyrs of the early Church, although their exact identities may vary according to local traditions. Saint Zeno may have been a Christian soldier martyred under Diocletian, distinct from Zeno of Verona. As for Saint Germanus, he may have been a martyr of the Roman persecutions, possibly originating from the East or North Africa. Both are said to have given their lives for their faith, refusing to renounce Christ. The veneration of these martyrs spread across several regions, notably through relics preserved in monasteries or churches. Their memory was celebrated locally through liturgy and pilgrimages. The present reliquary bears witness to this ancient devotion centered on the heroic testimony of the martyrs.
