Rare altar reliquary in embossed silver metal on a wooden support, carved with decoration of scrolls and palmettes housing the first class Ex Ossibus relics of Saint Teresa of Avila and Saint Louis of Gonzaga. The relics are fixed on a background of red fabric and decorated with paperolels, they are identified on a handwritten label as S. Theresia. V. and S. Aloys. Goons.

Good used condition. Wear to the silvering, small loss at the top left.

Saint Teresa of Avila, born in 1515 in Spain, was a reforming nun, mystic and writer of the Carmelite order. She is known for her spiritual writings, including her autobiography, "The Book of Life." Thérèse played a major role in the reform of Carmel and founded several Reformed monasteries. She is revered for her contemplative spirituality and her deep union with God. Teresa of Avila was canonized in 1614 and proclaimed a Doctor of the Church in 1970. Her feast day is celebrated on October 15 in the Catholic liturgical calendar.

Saint Louis de Gonzague, born in 1568 in Italy, was a young Jesuit aristocrat. He gave up his wealth to live a simple life devoted to God. He is best known for his intense religious devotion and his service to the sick during a plague epidemic, during which he contracted the disease and died in 1591 at the age of 23. Saint Louis Gonzaga is the patron saint of students and young Christians and is venerated for his example of charity and holiness. His feast day is celebrated on June 21 in the Catholic liturgical calendar.
