Saint Mary Magdalene is one of the most revered figures in Christianity, often called "the apostle to the apostles" because of her major role in the Gospels. She was originally from Magdala, a town in Galilee, and was healed by Jesus of seven demons. She became one of his faithful disciples, following Jesus throughout his ministry. Mary Magdalene is present at the crucifixion and, according to the Gospels, is the first to see the resurrected Jesus, bringing the message of his resurrection to the apostles. Traditionally, she is often associated with the repentant sinner, although this image is subject to debate. She is also considered a mystic and contemplative in some Christian traditions. Her feast day is celebrated on July 22.

Saint Mary Magdalene de Pazzi (1566–1607) was an Italian Carmelite nun, mystic, and religious revered for her deep spirituality and mystical ecstasies. Born into a noble family in Florence, she joined Carmel at the age of 16, where she led a life of prayer and penance. She is particularly known for her visions of divine love and her devotion to the Passion of Christ. Her mystical experiences included visions of Jesus and spiritual dialogues with him, which profoundly influenced her prayer life. She lived in great simplicity and suffering, devoting herself entirely to God. Canonized in 1669, her feast day is May 25. Saint Mary Magdalene de Pazzi is also known for her spiritual writings, including her letters and meditations on divine love.
