Saint Suzanne is a 3rd century Christian martyr. She was the daughter of a Christian priest and dedicated her life to the Christian faith. When she refused to renounce her faith in front of the Roman Emperor Diocletian, she was thrown into a pit filled with wild beasts, but they did not attack her. She was eventually beheaded. She is venerated as a saint in the Catholic and Orthodox Church and her feast day is celebrated on August 11. Saint Suzanne is often represented with a crown of flowers, a symbol of her virginity.
