Sainte Virginie was born in the 8th century in the parish of Sainte-Marie-de-Haut-Bois in Poitou. After her death, the tomb of this simple shepherdess was venerated in the church of Sainte Verge (commune of Sainte-Verge: Deux-Sèvres).
Saint Angela de Merici was a 16th century Italian nun, founder of the Ursuline Order. Born in Desenzano del Garda, she dedicated her life to the education of young girls and the training of teachers. Angela believed in the importance of education for women so they could grow spiritually and intellectually. She founded schools for young girls and organized communities of women committed to the Christian life. Angela was known for her wisdom and piety, and she is considered a pioneer in the education of women.
