Saint Ursula was a 4th century AD Breton princess who lived in Cologne, Germany. She was known for her piety and commitment to the poor. According to tradition, she and a group of companions were martyred by the Huns after refusing to marry them and renouncing their Christian faith. Their exact number varies according to the accounts, ranging from eleven thousand to eleven. Saint Ursula is venerated by the Catholic Church as a holy martyr and her feast day is October 21.
