In the 5th century, in Alexandria, the young bride Theodora committed adultery. Seized with remorse, she became a penitent, dressed as a man and entered a monastery where she became abbot. One day, a woman who had just given birth accused him of being the father of her child. Rather than reveal her identity, Theodora left the monastery and agreed to raise the child alone. It was only upon his death that it was discovered that the monk Theodore , unjustly accused, was Theodora, a holy woman.
