Saint Remacle, born in the 6th century, was a monk and missionary of Irish origin. He was called to the Ardennes by Saint Amé to evangelize the region. Remacle founded the abbey of Stavelot, where he became abbot. He played an important role in the spread of Christianity in the region. His life was marked by piety, charity and monastic rigor. He died in 663 and was canonized, becoming the patron saint of the town of Stavelot. His exemplary life continues to inspire Christians and mark the religious history of Belgium.
