Saint Mark was one of the four evangelists in the Bible, known for writing the second Gospel. He is also considered the founder of the Coptic Church of Alexandria in Egypt. According to tradition, he would have been a disciple of Saint Peter and would have traveled with him in the East. Saint Mark would then have evangelized Egypt where he was martyred and buried. His feast day is celebrated on April 25 in the Catholic liturgical calendar.
