RELIQUARY, RELIC OF SAINT GAETAN OF THIENE

Rare silver reliquary with a glass facade containing the relic of Saint Cajetan.

The relic is fixed in the center of a richly decorated decoration. decorated with gold-edged paperolles, silver threads and it is identified in Latin on a handwritten label as: S. Cayetani, A red fabric background provides contrast and highlights the relic, this color, omnipresent in the Christian liturgy, symbolizes the blood of Christ and his redemptive sacrifice.

The red wax seal affixed by the Church not only guarantees the authenticity of the relic, but also that the reliquary has not been opened and that the relic has not been handled since it was closed. It thus ensures its intact preservation, providing complete certainty as to its provenance and integrity.

Saint Cajetan of Thiene (1480-1547) was an Italian priest and founder of the Theatine order. Driven by a deep desire for reform, he worked to restore piety and discipline within the Church. He devoted his life to serving the poor and the sick, adopting an austere lifestyle and trusting entirely in divine Providence. A visionary, he also participated in the creation of pawnshops to combat usury and help the most destitute. His unwavering faith and commitment inspired many religious figures. He died in 1547, exhausted by his dedication. Canonized in 1671, he is today venerated as the patron saint of job seekers and entrepreneurs.
