Saint Donatus of Arezzo was a 4th-century Christian bishop, renowned for his faith and miracles. According to tradition, he converted many pagans and performed miracles, such as restoring a broken chalice. He is also known for resisting persecution under the Roman Empire, fervently defending Christian doctrine. His martyrdom is said to have occurred around 362 , under the Emperor Julian the Apostate, who persecuted Christians. He was reportedly beheaded for refusing to renounce his faith. His cult quickly spread, particularly in Tuscany , where he is venerated as the patron saint of the city of Arezzo . His feast day is celebrated on August 7 .
