Saint Charles Borromeo, born in 1538 in Italy, was a prominent figure in the Catholic Church. He was Archbishop of Milan and one of the main actors of the Catholic Reformation of the 16th century. Devoted to the reform of the Church, he implemented pastoral and liturgical reforms, and engaged in teaching the catechism to the faithful. He also founded seminaries to train priests. He distinguished himself by his charity towards the poor and the sick, and was canonized in 1610. He is venerated as the patron saint of bishops; catechists; catechumens; cardinals; seminarians; spiritual directors; spiritual animators.
