Rare 19th-century circular reliquary containing a relic of the Veil of the Blessed Virgin Mary, identified by the old handwritten inscription "Velo B.V.M.". The relic is displayed under its original glass on a crimson red fabric background and highlighted within a diamond-shaped reserve decorated with delicate cut paper.
The inscription identifies the relic as follows:

Beautiful object. It appears to be a fragment of the Veil of the Virgin Mary preserved at Chartres, known as the Veil of Chartres, which according to tradition was worn by the Virgin Mary during the Annunciation. Shipped quickly and professionally. Thank you!
