Saint Joseph is known as the earthly father of Jesus Christ. He was a carpenter from Nazareth and married Mary, the mother of Jesus. He accepted the paternity of Jesus and raised him as his own son. Joseph is described as a righteous and humble man in Scripture and is revered in Catholic tradition as the patron of workers and families. According to Catholic tradition, he died before Jesus' public ministry began.
