RELIQUARY OF SAINT JOSEPH OF NAZARETH

Rare reliquary in bronze with a glass front, containing the relic of Saint Joseph. The relic is set on an ornate red silk background and is identified in Latin on a label as S.Joseph Spon (the spouse)

Good used condition with its original glass.

Saint Joseph is known as the earthly father of Jesus Christ. He was a carpenter from Nazareth and married Mary, the mother of Jesus. He accepted Jesus' fatherhood and raised him as his own son. Joseph is described as a just and humble man in Scripture and is revered in Catholic tradition as the patron saint of workers and families. According to Catholic tradition, he died before Jesus began his public ministry.
