Rare silver-plated bronze reliquary with a glass front containing the relics of Saint Dominic and Saint Raymond of Peñafort . The relics are carefully arranged in the center of a richly decorated decoration, composed of silver thread and gold-edged paperolles. They are identified in Latin on two handwritten labels as:
"Ex Oss. S. Dominici C." → "From the bones of Saint Dominic, Confessor"
- This inscription refers to Saint Dominic de Guzmán (1170-1221) , founder of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans). A great preacher and defender of the faith, he is known for his fight against the Cathar heresy and his devotion to the Virgin Mary, to whom he is said to have popularized the Rosary.
"EX Sub. S. Vincent Paulo" → "On the clothing of Saint Vincent de Paul"
- Saint Vincent de Paul (1581-1660) was a French priest known for his immense charity and commitment to the poor and the sick. He founded the Congregation of the Mission (the Lazarists) and inspired the creation of the Daughters of Charity with Saint Louise de Marillac. He is the patron saint of charities and hospitals.
Saint Dominic de Guzmán and Saint Vincent de Paul, although separated by several centuries, share the same mission: to preach the Gospel and help the most deprived.
Founder of the Dominicans, Saint Dominic (13th century) devoted himself to teaching and the fight against heresy, living in poverty in order to better evangelize. Saint Vincent de Paul (17th century), for his part, put his priesthood at the service of the poor, founding the Congregation of the Mission and the Daughters of Charity.
The red wax seal affixed by the Church not only guarantees the authenticity of the relics, but also that the reliquary has not been opened and that the relics have not been handled since it was closed. It thus ensures their intact preservation, offering complete certainty as to their provenance and integrity.
