Blessed Torello of Poppi (1202–1282) was born in the Tuscan city of Poppi. After a youth marked by worldly distractions, he converted and chose the path of the hermitage. He lived in a secluded cell, devoted to prayer, fasting, and penance. His humility and charity inspired the trust of the townspeople who came to seek his counsel. At his death, his memory remained alive throughout the region, where he was honored as a protector. His local cult, handed down through the centuries, continued to grow. The Church solemnly recognized this veneration by beatifying him on March 7, 1761 through Pope Benedict XIV.
