Rare silver reliquary with a glass front containing the relic of the robe of the Holy Virgin Mary . The relic is fixed on a fabric background decorated with silver threads, it is identified in Latin on a handwritten label as Ex Veste BVM
Good used condition with its original glass.

The history of the Virgin Mary's veil is shrouded in mystery and legend. According to tradition, the veil was worn by Mary during the crucifixion of Jesus. After her death, the veil was kept by disciples and saints. Over the centuries, it was transferred from hand to hand, until it found refuge in prestigious places of worship such as St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican and Chartres Cathedral in France.
