Rare oval silver reliquary with a glass front, containing a precious relic of Saint Peter the Apostle, Prince of the Apostles and the first head of the Church founded by Christ.
The relic, delicately placed on a background of ancient red fabric, is identified by a handwritten label in Latin: “S. Petri Ap.”, the traditional abbreviation of Sanctus Petrus Apostolus.
Surrounding the sacred fragment, a refined decoration in gilt paper forms a radiant display alternating silver points and undulating motifs, evoking a luminous halo intended to emphasize the unique dignity of the one whom Jesus called “the rock” upon which His Church would be built.
The ensemble has remained in its original state, retaining its ancient glass, its ecclesiastical seal, and its silk sealing threads still perfectly intact, attesting that the reliquary has never been opened since its manufacture.
Authenticated relics of Saint Peter the Apostle are extremely sought after and appear only exceptionally on the international market, due to his absolutely central role in Christianity: the first disciple to be called, witness of the Transfiguration, intimate companion of Christ, preacher at Pentecost, evangelizer of Rome, and martyr under Nero.
His tomb, located beneath the present-day Basilica of Saint Peter in the Vatican, has been one of the most important sanctuaries in the world since the 4th century, attracting millions of pilgrims.

Saint Peter, a fisherman from Galilee who became an Apostle, embodies the strength of living faith: humble, passionate, at times fragile yet always faithful, he received from the hands of Christ the mission to guide the first Christian community.
His martyrdom in Rome, crucified upside down out of humility, sealed his witness and made him the visible pillar of the Church.
Through the centuries, his example remains that of the universal shepherd, the courageous witness, and the chosen servant entrusted with bearing the “keys of the Kingdom.”
