Saint Mary Magdalene de Pazzi (1566–1607) was an Italian mystic and Carmelite nun, born in Florence into a noble family. At an early age, she was drawn to the spiritual life and entered the Carmelite order at the age of 16. She became famous for her mystical ecstasies and visions, which she experienced over a period of five intense years. These spiritual experiences were recorded by her fellow sisters and revealed a deep union with God and a fervent desire for the reform of the Church. She advocated for purity of faith, humility, and complete detachment from material goods. Mary Magdalene de Pazzi viewed suffering as a means of uniting with the crucified Christ. She was canonized in 1669 by Pope Clement IX.
