Rare silver reliquary with a glass facade containing the relic of Saint Louis Gonzaga.
The relic is set on a silk background and decorated with silver thread and is identified in Latin on a handwritten label as: S: Aloys Gon
On the back, an ecclesiastical wax seal guarantees the integrity of the relic. The silk threads are present.

Saint Louis Gonzaga (1568-1591) was an Italian nobleman who became a Jesuit and was known for his great piety. The son of a marquis, he renounced his inheritance to enter the Society of Jesus. He distinguished himself by his rigorous asceticism and his devotion to the sick. During a plague epidemic in Rome, he cared for the victims and contracted the disease himself. He died at only 23 years old, leaving behind the image of a young man of exemplary purity. He was canonized in 1726 and is today the patron saint of Christian youth. His name is still honored in many Catholic schools.
