Rare silver reliquary with a glass front containing the relic of Saint Joseph. The relic is carefully secured at the center of an elegant design. It rests on a red fabric background — a color omnipresent in Christian liturgy, symbolizing the blood of Christ and His redemptive sacrifice. It is mounted on a small diamond-shaped piece of paper or parchment, surrounded by a finely crafted silver border.

Below, a parchment label bears the inscription "S. Joseph", confirming the identity of the saint whose relic is preserved.

The outer frame displays raised motifs, reflecting delicate artisanal craftsmanship.

Good condition of use with original glass.

Unopened.

Ecclesiastical seal and silk threads present.

Antique reliquaries containing relics of Saint Joseph are particularly rare. Unlike many martyr saints, Saint Joseph was not the object of an early relic cult, and the bodily fragments attributed to him were extremely limited in their distribution.
Although the veneration of Saint Joseph is theologically very ancient, it did not experience a significant liturgical and devotional development until the late Middle Ages, which explains the rarity of authentic relics and their limited presence on the market.

Saint Joseph, husband of the Virgin Mary and foster father of Jesus, is a central figure in Christianity. A carpenter from Nazareth, he is seen as the model of the loving, discreet, and hardworking father. The Gospel of Matthew recounts how he, in obedience to God, accepted Mary and raised the child Jesus. He is the patron saint of the Universal Church, of fathers, workers, and the dying. His veneration developed later but intensely, especially from the 15th century onward. He embodies silent faith, fidelity, and protection. His feast day is celebrated on March 19, and also on May 1 as the patron saint of workers.
