Saint Joachim is a biblical and traditional figure, recognized as the husband of Saint Anne and the grandfather of Jesus. Although his name is not directly mentioned in the canonical Bible, apocryphal writings such as the Protevangelium of James present him as a pious and respected man. Christian tradition celebrates the feast of Saint Joachim on July 26, at the same time as that of Saint Anne. Joachim is often honored as a model of virtue and patience, as his life is marked by the sterility of his wife Anne for many years, until the miraculous birth of Mary. Some Orthodox Churches have liturgical hymns dedicated to Saint Joachim. The devotion to Joachim highlights the importance of family in Christian spirituality and offers an example of faith and hope in the face of life's challenges. Apocryphal stories and popular traditions enrich our understanding of this essential character in the sacred genealogy of Christianity.
