Saint Genevieve, born around 420 in Nanterre, is the patron saint of Paris. At a young age, she dedicated herself to God under the influence of Saint Germain of Auxerre. She led a life of prayer, fasting, and charity at the heart of the Christian community of Lutetia. In 451, she became famous for urging the Parisians not to flee in the face of Attila's invasion, promising divine protection. Paris was miraculously spared, reinforcing her reputation as a saint. After her death around 502, a fervent cult developed around her tomb. Her memory endures as that of a strong, spiritual woman and protector of the people.
