Saint Cajetan of Thiena (1480-1547) was an Italian priest and founder of the Theatine Order. Born into a noble family in Vicenza, he studied law before turning to religious life. Ordained a priest in 1516, he devoted himself to caring for the sick and the poor. In 1524, with other reformers, he founded the Theatines, an order that advocated apostolic poverty and spiritual rigor. His goal was to revitalize the clergy and strengthen the faith of the faithful through the example of a pious life. Persecuted in Rome during the sack of the city in 1527, he nevertheless continued his work until his death. He was canonized in 1671 and is considered the patron saint of job seekers and honest bankers.
