Rare silver reliquary with a glass facade containing the relic of Saint Francis of Assisi.
The relic is fixed on a silk background and decorated with gold-edged paperolles, silver threads and it is identified in Latin on a handwritten label as: S. Franc. Assis. ("Saint Francis of Assisi").
On the back, an ecclesiastical wax seal guarantees the integrity of the relic. The silk threads are present.

Saint Francis of Assisi (1181/1182-1226) is the founder of the Franciscan order and one of the most venerated figures in Christianity. Born into a wealthy Italian merchant family, he renounced his privileges to embrace a life of poverty and prayer. He preached the love of God, universal brotherhood and respect for nature, considering all living beings, including animals, as his brothers. Marked by the stigmata, he deeply shared the suffering of Christ. His Canticle of the Creatures expresses his spiritual joy and his admiration for creation. Canonized in 1228, he is the patron saint of environmentalists, and his influence has endured through the centuries. His feast day is celebrated on October 4.
