Rare silver reliquary with a glass facade, containing the relic of Saint Francis of Assisi
The relic is fixed on a silk background and is decorated with gold-edged paperolles and silver threads. The relic is identified in Latin on a handwritten label as: S. Franci. Assi:

Saint Francis of Assisi, born Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone in 1181, was an Italian monk known for his life of poverty and his love of nature. Founder of the Franciscan Order, he preached a return to simplicity and authentic faith. Francis is also famous for his love of animals, considering all creatures as brothers and sisters. In 1224, he received the stigmata, marking his mystical union with Christ. His life is an example of compassion and humility, inspiring many believers throughout the centuries. Canonized in 1228, he is the patron saint of animals and ecology. His feast day is celebrated on October 4.
