Rare silver-plated bronze reliquary with a glass facade, containing the relic of Saint Francis of Assisi.
The relic is fixed on a background of silk embroidered with gold threads. The relic is identified in Latin on a handwritten label as: S. Francisci Asisinaten
Good used condition with its original glass.

Saint Francis of Assisi, born in 1181 in Italy, is the founder of the Franciscan order . The son of a wealthy merchant, he renounced a life of comfort to embrace poverty and simplicity, inspired by a divine call. He dedicated his life to preaching God's love, peace and brotherhood with all creatures, earning the nickname "Saint of the Poor". Saint Francis is known for his devotion to nature, considering animals as his brothers and sisters. In 1224, he received the stigmata, a visible sign of his deep union with Christ. He died in 1226, leaving an immense spiritual legacy marked by joy, humility and respect for creation. Canonized two years later, he is today the patron saint of ecology.
