A red fabric background provides contrast and enhances the relic; this color, omnipresent in Christian liturgy, symbolizes the blood of Christ and His redemptive sacrifice.

Saint Christopher is a legendary saint venerated as a martyr by the Catholic Church. According to tradition, he was a giant named Reprobus who converted to Christianity after seeking to serve the most powerful master. He dedicated himself to God by helping travelers cross a dangerous river. One day, he carried a mysterious child on his shoulders, who revealed himself to be Christ — hence his name: Christophoros, "Christ-bearer." He was arrested under Emperor Decius for his faith, tortured, and beheaded. He is the patron saint of travelers, motorists, and porters. His feast day is traditionally celebrated on July 25.
