Saint Alphonsus Liguori, born in 1696 in Naples, was a prominent theologian, bishop, and founder of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (the Redemptorists). Initially a brilliant lawyer, he gave up his career to become a priest, devoting his life to the evangelization of the poor and marginalized. He is famous for his talents as a preacher, his deep Marian devotion, and his numerous theological writings, including the classic "Moral Theology" , which still influences the Church today. Alphonsus is also known for his hymns and canticles, emphasizing his love of prayer and music. In 1762, he was appointed Bishop of Sant'Agata dei Goti, where he worked to reform the clergy and support the poor.
