Authentic human medical teaching skull in very fine state of preservation, mounted with removable calvarium and articulated mandible, accompanied by three cervical vertebrae preserved in their original anatomical mounting.

This specimen presents a professional-quality anatomical preparation created for medical study and university teaching. The cranial cap is removable thanks to an antique metal fastening system allowing observation of the cranial cavity and internal structures. The mandible is articulated by means of period lateral metal springs, typical of anatomical mountings from the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The skull retains a beautiful natural ivory patina with excellent bone density. The dentition is particularly well preserved, offering a visually remarkable and scientifically interesting ensemble. The cranial sutures remain clearly visible, and the entire specimen displays careful preparation intended for anatomical study.

The presence of three mounted cervical vertebrae adds further interest to this specimen, allowing a more complete anatomical understanding of the cranio-cervical junction. This type of preparation was used in medical faculties, surgical schools, and anatomical cabinets for the teaching of human osteology.

Very good overall state of preservation.
Original metal mountings present.
Functional removable calvarium.
Original articulated mandible.
Beautiful preservation of the dentition.

PERIOD : 19th century – early 20th century

Authentic anatomical skulls used for medical teaching occupy an important place in the history of science and medicine. Before the widespread use of synthetic models in the 20th century, medical faculties and anatomical schools used genuine human skeletal remains prepared by specialized anatomists in order to train students in the study of the human skeleton.

Complete examples retaining their original articulation systems, removable calvarium, and part of the cervical vertebrae are today especially sought after by collectors of antique anatomy, cabinets of curiosities, and specialized institutions.

Through the quality of its preparation, its excellent state of preservation, and its strong aesthetic presence, this specimen constitutes a remarkable piece of historical anatomy and collectible art.
