HOLY RELIC FACE VEIL OF VERONICA

This rare reliquary is an authenticated representation of the Holy Face of Jesus Christ, also known as Vera Effigies Sacri Vultus Domini Nostri Jesu Christi . It is an ancient engraving printed on linen, inspired by the Veil of Veronica, venerated in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican . The image represents the face of Christ with closed eyes, marked by the sufferings of the Passion, with traces of sweat and blood. The face is framed by a draped cloth, symbolizing the Holy Shroud.

The whole is carefully preserved under glass and presented in a wooden frame, giving it a solemn and precious character. At the bottom of the engraving, a Latin inscription attests to its authenticity, specifying that it was piously applied to the Holy Shroud of Veronica , the Wood of the True Cross and the Point of the Lance of Longinus , all three preserved in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.

On the back of the frame, an official certificate , issued by a canon of St. Peter's Basilica , confirms that this image was sanctified through contact with the most sacred relics of Christianity. This document, dated 1836 , bears a red wax seal guaranteeing its authenticity and integrity. This image, blessed and venerated, was intended for private devotion or for churches, serving as a means of contemplation and prayer for the faithful.

To all who will read this letter, I certify that this image of the Face of Our Lord Jesus Christ , reproduced like the most holy Shroud of Veronica, was piously applied to this Shroud, as well as to the Life-giving Wood of the Cross and the Point of the Lance of the Lord , which are religiously preserved in our basilica.

This sacred image is venerated with the greatest devotion, having been recognized by several sovereign pontiffs through official diplomas and venerated by an immense crowd of faithful.

In testimony of its authenticity, I affix my seal and signature.

Delivered from my home in the year 1836 , under the pontificate of the reigning Sovereign Pontiff , in the 16th year of his pontificate .
