Dr. Potain's aspirator from the end of the 19th century in its original and complete case, surgical instrument intended to aspirate and evacuate fluids and liquids from the human body.

After creating a vacuum in a bottle using the pump, the cavity to be drained was punctured with a needle or trocar.

The instrument consists of a steel pump with two tips at its end, a hollow metal rod with a double conduit branching into two branches each equipped with a tap, trocars of different calibers and cannulas.

The set is contained in a purple velvet-lined box bearing the inscription “Aspirateur du Dr Potain” and the name of the manufacturer “Chose et Fils Paris”.

The rubber tubes have dried out and are unusable.

Rare 19th century medical object that would fit perfectly in a cabinet of curiosities.
