The story of the Virgin Mary's veil is shrouded in mystery and legend. According to tradition, the veil was worn by Mary during the crucifixion of Jesus. After his death, the veil would have been kept by disciples and saints. Over the centuries, it is said to have been transferred from hand to hand, until it found a home in prestigious places of worship such as St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican and Chartres Cathedral in France.
