Saint Berthe de Blangy, a 9th-century Christian saint who was abbess of the monastery of Blangy-sur-Bresle, Normandy. According to tradition, Berthe was the daughter of a Norman noble named Richer and his wife, Alpaïde. She was very pious and devoted from an early age, and decided to dedicate her life to God by entering the monastery of Blangy-sur-Bresle at the age of 16.
Bertha quickly proved herself at the monastery and was elected abbess in 865, at the age of 29. She led the monastery with wisdom and compassion, and was well liked by all who knew her. She was also known for her generosity and kindness, and spent much of her time caring for the sick and helping the poor in the area.
Bertha died in 887, aged 51, and quickly became a very popular and revered character throughout Normandy. She is considered a saint by the Catholic Church, and is celebrated every year on July 12.
