Saint Philip was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. He was born in Bethsaida in Galilee and was called by Jesus himself to follow him. After Jesus' death, Philip preached the gospel in Asia Minor and Greece, converting many pagans to Christianity. He also healed the sick and possessed by the power of the Holy Spirit. Saint Philip was eventually martyred at Hierapolis in Phrygia, where he was crucified in AD 80 after preaching the Gospel for over 30 years. His feast day is celebrated on May 3.
